At times, life can just become so complicated and difficult. You can find yourself in a bit of a rut or in turmoil just trying to juggle everything and keep going. Perhaps you have tried to talk to friends and family, or maybe you have confided in no one and are just keeping going.
If you feel that you need to talk to someone who will understand how you are feeling, and who will listen to you without judgement, then I will be happy to meet with you. Please feel free to contact me by e mail at email@example.com or if you prefer, you can phone or send a text to 07413566426
I am a qualified private counsellor working in my own private practice at home in Kincardine. I work in a warm and professional manner where I provide a safe, relaxing and confidential space where you can talk freely.
DUE TO COVID 19, I AM NOT PERMITTED TO HAVE ANYONE IN MY HOME AT THE MOMENT. AS A RESULT, AND FOLLOWING FEEDBACK FROM MY CLIENTS, I HAVE CREATED A GARDEN ROOM, PURPOSE BUILT WHERE I AM ABLE TO CONTINUE TO WORK WITH MY CLIENTS - SEE PICTURES AT THE BOTTOM OF MY PROFILE.
It takes courage to decide to come to a counsellor, and the first session may feel like quite an anxious experience. I will listen to you without judgement and will respect your thoughts and feelings. Our conversations will always be in complete confidence and I will support you in each step you take in finding a way to reach your own decisions
It is always important that you feel safe and trust the person you are speaking with as sharing your private thoughts with a stranger can be daunting. We all have different personalities and have different ways of working, and it is my aim to have you feel supported, listened too, understood and safe, where you feel comfortable enough to talk about anything you want to, however difficult it may be for you.
If you feel you would like to talk to me first then I would be happy to have a short phone call with you. If, after talking together, you feel happy and comfortable to work together, we can set up a time to meet.
I work in a person centred way where I focus on your emotions surrounding your issues. I also use a psychodynamic approach where we can explore how your past is affecting how you are right now. Together, we will explore what is on your mind and of the troubles you may be experiencing.
I have a diploma in body language and transactional analysis which helps me understand why you may feel/behave in a certain way that is holding you back and causing upset/confusion in your life which affects you and others around you. Through talking together, I can help you understand your thoughts and feelings. Together we can move towards a happier healthier future for you.
I work with many issues, including :- anxiety, fear, depression, loss/bereavement, relationship issues, bullying, childhood related issues, physical/emotional abuse, family related issues, low self esteem, suicidal thoughts.
I work with individual people on a one to one/face to face basis and also offer couples counselling.
I also work on a voluntary basis with a local hospice as a grief and bereavement counsellor
Training, qualifications & experience
My past experience has been working within a care and support environment, to include working with children and families in a socially deprived area of Edinburgh. I have also worked extensively with adults with learning disability, dementia, autism and mental health conditions.
I have been involved in several types of voluntary work through the years, to include working for the prison service supporting families and children of inmates. I have worked in a psychiatric hospital spending time with patients who had no close family members or visitors. I have acted as an advocate and befriender with women's aid and also with vulnerable and socially isolated adults with mental health conditions, and I have also worked as a volunteer listening samaritan.

Areas of counselling I deal with
My fee for our initial session is £35 for one client and £45 for a couple.
This is when we will talk together for an hour and I will gather some information with you and explain how I work. We will have time to talk about confidentiality, contract form, and any other issues you may want to raise.
After our initial session, if you feel comfortable talking to me and feel I may be able to help you, my fee for future counselling remains the same at £35 per hour for a single client, and £45 per session for couples counselling.
Sometimes an hour is not enough, so if you feel you would like extra time, my fee for one and a half hours is £45 for a single client and £55 for a couple.
I also offer family sessions, so for example, two adults and a young person over the age of 16 would be £55. If the young person is under the age of 16 then my fee would be £45
If you feel you would benefit from block bookings, my fee for 3 sessions is £90 for one client and £120 for a couple. If you chose a block booking and you do not turn up for the session, then the fee is non refundable unless in exceptional circumstances.
We all have busy lives and sometimes situations happen that are outwith our control, and so with this in mind, I ask my clients to give me at least 48 hours notice of cancellation of session and no fee will be payable. If i receive no notice or the session is cancelled on the day, then the full fee is payable. I work on trust and hope that my clients understand this request and that they pay any outstanding cancellation fee.
IF YOU WOUILD LIKE TO PAY IN CASH, COULD YOU PLEASE PUT THE CORRECT MONEY IN A PLASTIC BAG AS I AM UNABLE TO GIVE CHANGE DUE TO TRANSFER OF BACTERIA. IF YOU PREFER YOU CAN PAY ME BY BANK TRANSFER THE DAY BEFORE OUR SESSION.
Due to the fact that we are all living with covid 19, I cannot have any one in my home at the moment, as my work place is in my lounge. Although this is not the way I like to work, I have to adhere to the latest government recommendations. With this in mind, I am offering telephone calls or whatsapp calls. My method of payment has had to change also, and so at the moment I am asking my clients to pay by bank transfer. I hope that I will not be in this situation for long, but in the meantime, it is very important to me that I am still able to offer support to all of my clients. Please bear with me as very soon I will be able to offer a safe environment where I can practice counselling out with my home.
