About me

Hi, I'm Dee. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I am a qualified counsellor/psychotherapist and have many qualifications and experiences of most mental health issues for working with children, youths, adults, couples/relationships and family groups.

It's not an easy task choosing a therapist that is right for you, which is why I offer a free 30 minute consultation.  This means you can meet me and see if you feel you could work with me.  The client/counsellor relationship is vital so that we can build up trust and rapport so that you feel free to confide in me, and allow me to help with whatever is causing you emotional difficulty.

After the consultation there is completely no obligation - I would prefer that you take some time to think and make the decision in your own time.  You will not be contacted so you will not feel under any pressure to book sessions.  However, should you decide that you want to work with me, I offer a safe and confidential space, in a tranquil setting, where we will explore your issue/s and emotions and work towards improving your mental health and well-being - facilitating you to regain control of your life and feel empowered.

Whether you are suffering anxiety, panic attacks, depression, are suffering low self-esteem and confidence, or have low self-worth, therapy can really help improve how you feel about yourself and make you feel less vulnerable whilst providing you with a sense of belonging.

I offer telephone, online, or face to face sessions for individuals of all ages and can make home visits if necessary.

Couples/relationship or group therapy can only be carried out face to face.

I mainly work in a person-centred way which means the therapy session revolves around you, your emotions and how you are feeling,  I may also use other types of therapy if I feel it would be of benefit to you.  I like to encourage creativity, so, only should you wish to, your therapy could also include art & craft.  I also teach coping techniques to use in the future (including emotional freedom technique), so that should a future life event occur, you will be equipped to use these techniques to help with your mental health and well-being.

Whether you are feeling sad, angry, lonely, bereaved, suffering a disability or life-threatening illness, issues at work, being bullied, suffering racism, any type of abuse, low confidence, low self-esteem, low self-worth, suicidal, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, autism, bi-polar or anything else, speaking to a therapist can really turn your life around.

My numerous qualifications and experiences can help with all types of mental health issues, from anxiety to suicide or trauma - please see full listings below.

I also have qualifications and vast experience in bereavement including The Grief Recovery Method. I have volunteered at The Linden Centre, Trinity Hospice for over 3 years, working with all ages of clients suffering from a bereavement, or those affected by cancer including patients with incurable cancer.

In addition to counselling, I am also a qualified nursery nurse and can offer help with raising children, parenting skills, setting boundaries etc. and I also offer family therapy (up to 6 members).  I am also a qualified teacher and have taught counselling at Blackpool and the Fylde College.

I also offer life-coaching - steering you in the right direction for a certain career plan for example.

I work from my own private practice and can offer flexibility that fits in with your lifestyle, including evenings and weekends.

Please contact me to see how therapy can change your life.  If you text or leave a message I will get back to you and your consultation can take place within 48 hours.

If you have any concerns or questions, please don't hesitate to contact me so that I can help however possible.  I appreciate it can often take a lot of courage to contact a therapist so please do take your time, read all our profiles and make the decision that seems best for you - making the phone call puts you on the first rung of the ladder to successfully dealing with your mental health issues.

Warmest regards,

Dee

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
