About me

Hello and thank you for visiting my profile, it takes courage to take that first step to see a counsellor.    You may be feeling anxious, stuck or finding life overwhelming right now and counselling can help.  I am a qualified counsellor who prides myself on being calm, warm and empathetic.  I understand that modern living can take its toll and often we feel anxious, depressed or distressed.  Counselling offers a safe, confidential space to work through what is troubling you.

How I work: I offer a non judgemental, supportive space for you to explore what is important to you in your life right now.  Through this we can build on your self awareness, resilience, wellbeing and balance.

Counselling helps us to understand how situations and life experience impact us, and from that awareness new possibilities emerge and change can take place.

Sometimes clients may struggle to access deeper emotions and the use of creative therapy can help you to verbalise and experience feelings which talking alone may not bring about.  I have a wide range of creative resources for this type of collaborative work available.  This will always be your choice.

Whatever your concerns, you are now looking at the benefit of getting professional help.  I have experience working with a diverse range of people who have come to therapy with a host of different concerns, including anxiety, depression, social and health anxiety, OCD, sexual abuse, exam stress and bullying. I work with adults and young people from 14+. We are all unique, as are our issues, and whatever your concerns are I am confident I can help you.

How counselling can help: Counselling will help you to address your issues in a positive way, by exploring issues together we can focus on new ways of moving forward and develop strategies to increase self-awareness and build self-esteem. I will work with you to create a trusting relationship where we can begin to explore those thoughts and feelings freely without fear of judgement. I offer caring therapy with attentive listening and respect. Finding ways to improve well-being is central to how I work.

What to expect from your first session:  In our first session we will talk about your expectations of counselling and understand how those expectations can be met.  We will look at goals and what matters to you most and how we can proceed at your pace.  I understand that deciding whether you would like to try counselling or choosing a counsellor can be a difficult process, so please do contact me if you would like to talk about making this important decision.

If you would like to arrange a free initial introductory session, or you would like to call me for a brief chat about what I offer please telephone me on 07747533055 or you can email me.

I would be happy to hear from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
