About me
It is never too early or too late to start counselling, and if you feel now may be the right time for you, I would be happy to discuss what you need from counselling.
My approach is to put my clients front and centre of our work together, giving us an opportunity to explore your difficulties and find your voice through the process.
I create a warm and accepting space in which we work collaboratively in setting your goals and wishes throughout the process, with regular check-ins to see if we are making the progress you are aiming for.
I am mindful of working with people who have many different experiences or may be completely new to counselling, with a desire to have a shared environment that allows you to explore your feelings and discover the source of those difficulties and challenges.
I have experience of working with clients with a number of issues, including depression, anxiety, loss and bereavement, family and relationship issues, lack of confidence and self-esteem, as well as difficult childhood experiences, including childhood sexual abuse and assault. I am used to working with new and unique experiences with every client and am open to whatever journey we need to go on together.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
As well as my work in private practice, I have two other counselling roles within the community. I work as an Outreach Counsellor for Cardiff Mind on secondment to Cardiff Council, where I work in the Multi-Disciplinary Team with clients from the Young Persons Gateway, young people who have suffered homelessness. This experience is very rewarding, and I am used to working with clients who are coming through ACE (Adverse Childhood Experience), overcoming addiction, have had previous history of sexual abuse, assault, domestic violence and trauma.
I offer stress management workshops with a colleague for groups, which are helpful for young people meeting stressful situations for the first time but also any group in any working situation that meets stress in their day to day life.
I also bring my extensive 20 year experience as a theatre director, a role which enabled me to develop the necessary creativity and empathy needed for all my client work.
