About us

Counselling can be useful for anyone who wants to explore the way they're thinking or feeling further, as well as anyone experiencing problems or issues they are keen to resolve. C.A.P.T.S provides a safe and confidential place where you can talk about your issues that are preventing you from functioning the way you think you should.

The first session is the consultation session which usually last for 50-60 minutes where the type of counselling on offer will be explained, and information collated to start the therapeutic process to either help you reconcile your issues or help you to find ways of coping. Don’t worry if you find it difficult to talk about all your issues during the first session, we could continue to collate information during further sessions, which will last for 50 minutes (minimum 6 sessions).

The type of therapy used will depend on the issues that you are facing and how you would like to address those issues. Together we will decide on a therapy type when we have found out more about you, the way you think and what you are hoping to gain from therapy.

                                      Trainee Counsellors

Personal therapy for trainee counsellor is an essential part of their training. It gives the trainee counsellors first-hand experience what it is like to be a client talking about difficult and personal things to somebody they don’t really know. It offers trainee counsellors the opportunity to find any blind spots they may have and to explore any unresolved issues from their past. In addition, personal therapy could add knowledge and skills and helps trainees comprehend more effectively the counselling process, and promote elf-awareness.
We have a vast amount of experience counselling trainee counsellors in several modalities to meet their counselling course requirement. Such as the integrative model, person centred model, CBT model, Psycho analytic model, and psycho dynamic model.

We provide low rates block bookings ( £50 per session) for trainee counsellors.

C.A.P.T.S also provides couples therapy, telephone therapy, individual and group supervision.

All sessions are confidential, and tailored to meet the clients needs and availability.

Member organisations *

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.
