About me

I have worked with a number of issues from things I have worked with a number of issues from things such as bereavement and anxiety to other concerns such as trauma and terminal illness. My role is to support you as best as I can and I will do the best that I can to offer support to the best of my ability no matter what issue may be troubling you.

My practice is based on person-centred therapy which is very much of the belief that respecting your right to autonomy is imperative in helping you in improving your situation. I am also of the belief that by working as a team, we can improve things for you together.

In terms of my practice, I have made it my mission to learn a variety of different techniques and modalities so that I am in the best possible position to offer support as your experience will be as unique as you are. I have an overview of some of the different areas of how my therapy will look that I can provide before undertaking any sessions which might help to give you an idea of some of the things to possibly expect. This will include things such as safeguarding and confidentiality policy so that you can be safe in the knowledge that your well-being is the most important thing in my practice.

Training, qualifications & experience

In terms of training, I have an undergraduate degree in Counselling Studies and Psychology (BSc) and a Master's degree in Psychotherapeutic practice (Ma).

To compound this further, I have had 5 years of experience working in the field and during that time have conducted over 3000 sessions.

I have also have reviews of clients that I have worked with in the past available at: https://www.betterhelp.com/chris-nicholls/

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
