About me

Charlotte Tipping.
Pronouns: She/Her

Hi

My name is Charlotte and I offer a safe comfortable supportive space for adult and young people to explore their thoughts, feelings and behaviours that may be causing them anxiety and unhappiness in their lives.

We appear to be living in a time where we are constantly receiving messages from our culture, friends and family about what we should want, what we should feel, and what we should do with our lives.

Sometimes these voices/opinions (even if well meaning) can use us to feel anxious and impact our confidence and self esteem by drowning out the most important and influential voice in our lives, our own.

My role is to provide a space where together we can explore and get curious about who you are and what you want from your life. We will look at thoughts, discuss feelings and explore how they impact and motivate our behaviours.

Sometimes you may not know what you are feeling and why. I can help with that, as we explore the four core emotions together, happiness, anger, sadness and fear.

I use different modalities of treatment when working with clients. One of which is Transactional Analysis (TA). This is a theory of personality and relationships based on the study of specific ego states, a theory of social interaction used as a tool for personal growth and personal change. TA is a way of inquiring into our internal world, looking at what influences it and how it effects our external relationships.

I also work using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) which encourages and teaches people to accept their thoughts and feelings rather then fighting them and or feeling guilty about them. ACT paired with mindfulness is a very effective treatment for those with an anxious and busy mind in particular.

I like to use music and art with with my clients.  I also offer sessions on mindfulness and breath work which the client can go onto use by themselves at home when they are getting caught up in anxiety about the past or the future.

I also offer walking and talking therapy. A relaxed walk through Grenoside woods can be helpful for those clients who particularly  enjoy being outside or find sitting down for long periods of time uncomfortable.

I feel passionate about running a practice that is committed to offering therapy to people from all ages and backgrounds who want to seek change in their life,

I hold myself accountable to the BACP and my supervisors as an Anti-discriminatory practitioner.  I believe that all people are to be treated with respect and are equal in value, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, impairment, class, religious beliefs or age.

In my practice difference is welcomed. I run a neuro affirming practice and welcome clients who identify as neurodivergent as well as those who are neurotypical.

Each session is 50 minutes long. You can book via the website. I offer weekly/fortnightly sessions. I also provide a free 15 phone call to touch base first instance.

If you have any questions then please do get in touch

Looking forward to meeting you

Charlotte

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
