About me

Hello, thank you for clicking on my page on here. I'm Catherine, a fully qualified humanistic integrative counsellor. Talking to someone can really help, just being able to feel heard and understood by someone is a powerful feeling.

My aim is to build people up and I am committed to providing a warm safe and supportive environment. I am a compassionate, non-judgmental and kind person with a gentle voice. You do not have to be on your own with your worries and thoughts. The way I can help you is by offering another perspective and a chance to reflect and be curious looking into your past and present issues/concerns together at your own pace.

The reason I call myself integrative is because I work in a relational way and feel that one model does not fit all. Therefore, I draw upon a range of models such as bringing in Gestalt work when appropriate, Transactional Analysis (TA), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)  and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) whilst staying with the core conditions empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence from the modality of Person-centred by psychologist Carl Rogers.

Since January 2022 I have worked at residential care homes in East Yorkshire providing support to residents with a range of mental health problems such as Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Stress, Anger, Grief, Relationship Issues, Korsakaff Syndrome, Dementia, Drug and Alcohol misuse.  The ages I work with are between the ages of 16-65+ Elderly care supporting individuals with loneliness, depression, grief and health worries. I have also supported individuals for private therapy.

I also understand that not every therapist will be the right one for you, so I always feel one session to start is a good idea to see how we fit, with no obligation to carry on if you decide not to.

My sessions can be face to face or online/telephone. Home visits are for residential care homes only.

I do have a website if you would like to find out more www.tealetherapy.com

Please feel free to get in touch for a chat about therapy and see if I might be the counsellor for you. I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
