About me

I offer concession rates and evening and weekend availability to suite your schedule. I provide an empathetic safe space where clients can process difficult or painful thoughts and explore their feelings without fear of judgement.

This can be a place to process what has gone on and learn how the world is perceived uniquely by you and how this can influence your relationships and interactions with the world.

Experienced with CBT techniques I help to identify negative thought patterns and help clients to find a new way of viewing situations. Existential therapeutic techniques are also used to help her clients explore thoughts on their current and future life stages and goals. I further integrate theories of transactional analysis to offer clients a different perspective on relationships, as well as working psychodynamically to find links between client’s childhood experiences and current behavioural patterns.

Therapy can be a place to talk about difficult things, and I believe in the importance of the therapeutic relationship. I help client’s achieve goals by focusing on individual strengths and helping clients realise their true potential by discovering their hidden resources. My aim in therapy is to support clients in every way through their journey in life.

Training, qualifications & experience

About me:

Growing up internationally with diverse heritage I bring a unique perspective to my work as a therapist; I focus on short term therapies as well as long term exploratory approaches for the treatment of both adults and children. I have a unique therapeutic approach combining divergent approaches to treatment, uniquely targeting treatments to the individual client’s needs. I am also a member of the BPS conducting doctoral research in to the treatment of depression. I work with short and long term therapies within both in-patient and out-patient NHS services as well as in private practice.

Experience:

I initially completed a BSc in psychology and MSc in clinical psychology where I worked with addictions, homelessness, social relationships and dementia. I used CBT techniques mainly at this time in working with client groups. Though these techniques can be extremely helpful I felt this approach was not appropriate for all presenting issues and clients, as each person is obviously unique and has a different way of learning and engaging with life. I then decided to continue with a PostGraduate Diploma in integrative psychotherapy looking at psychodynamic, existential and humanistic approaches to working with different presenting issues. I have also taken various professional development courses in different approaches and difficulties such as dream analysis, jungian therapy, family estrangement, emotional and psychological weight loss, trauma, time limited approaches, captivity, abuse and neuro-psychology and neuropsychological testing and assessment.

I have been working with depression and anxiety among other issues using a short-term approach within out-patient NHS services. I also work with patients on an in-patient unit in specialist tier 4 services working with severe trauma and self-harm and help clients with a wide range of difficulties in private practice.

How the sessions work:

I offer a range of session times to fit your schedual. Sessions are 50 minutes. In the beginning we would use the first sessions to explore what the issue is for you and your experience of it while also developing the therapeutic relationship and making sure you feel comfortable. I believe in working together therefore I am transparent with my clients and will discuss every step with you. The way we choose to go with the work will also depend on whether you have had any sort of therapy before and if you found that approach working for you or not. Your plan depends on which way the issue presents itself, when it started and many other factors which we can work through together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
