Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Reviews and Feedback:

I have found great comfort in being able to talk with someone objective. I haven’t even told my best friend who I have known since I was four years old some of what I have discussed with Carey-Sue. I feel safe to talk and she listens without judgement . She offers suggestions on actions I can take and I understand more about what my past means. Wish I had started this process years ago.

Carey has been an exceptional therapist, demonstrating a remarkable level of empathy, versatility, and insightfulness. Her guidance has been incredibly helpful, making my therapeutic journey a valuable and enriching experience. Highly recommended her to anyone seeking to get their life back on track.

I feel very fortunate to have my therapist’s help

Thank you so much for helping me I can't thank you enough it's been brilliant. The stuff you've helped me through aswell as taught me will carry on with me forever.

Although Carey-Sue is on the other side of the world to me she feels so warm and close. Her kind and gentle caring nature fills me with good spirits each session. Her words of wisdom leave me feeling hopeful and supported.

I just wanted to say thank you so much for the part you played in helping me getting through one of the worst times of my life!

Carey made me feel me empowered and open my perspective

Carey-Sue has helped me so much in such a short time. I am grateful for her kindness and listening to me. Carey-Sue is giving me great advice and is a true supporter of all her clients. Couldn’t ask for better.

Carey-Sue is an excellent counsellor. She is very insightful and a good listener. She has really helped me

I'm very happy with Carey_sue. I feel very comfortable and in a very short time I find I can tell her anything

I've been seeing Carey for two months now and I cannot recommend her enough! The sessions flow so well and I feel like she really gets me, she gets me to ask and answer myself the hard questions and I feel that she has given me so many invaluable tips and tools for dealing with life's ups and downs. She is so friendly and kind, I can be so open and honest and she offers me so much support. I can't thank you enough for all your help Carey and I am excited to continue this journey with you.

I’ve been more than happy with the support provided by Carey-Sue Ham. The sessions are relaxed and provided me with an opportunity to discuss what ever was on my mind and causing me anxiety. The two months with Carey-Sue have been a great help and provided me with the ability to improve my outlook on life and move forward with optimism!

Carey-Sue is perspicacious and supportive. After over a decade of unhealthy coping mechanisms, she was able to get the the root and make me feel safe enough to address long standing trauma. This is all within the first session!

Carey is a very passionate and a counselor who will be very patient with you and your issues.
