About me

My therapy is holistic and based in the here and now. I am interested in who you are as an evolving process with both a mind and body and work with how to bring those into better harmony with each other.  I am interested in how you exist in relationship with others and how past patterns and experiences have impacted that. I am interested in the way you tell your story and your unique way of seeing and being in the world. I aim to provide a supportive, safe environment where you can gain a fuller, braver curiosity about the whole of you. I can help you to replace the patterns and behaviours of the past with new healthier ways of being in the present, locate the fears and hurts that underline anxiety and depression and allow you to be more fully 'yourself'.

I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor and BACP member with a background in the arts and academia. I have a PhD in Art, literature, film and psychoanalysis. My research area is trauma: the way it informs modern experience and the way it impacts individuals.

I work in Wallingford South Oxfordshire, offering short and long term therapy, both online and face to face.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have qualified with a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling at the Metanoia Institute in London and am in ongoing MSC study there. I have several years experience working with clients with variety of presentations from depression and anxiety to domestic abuse and eating disorders.

For the last five years I have been involved in supporting individuals in crisis, particularly those who no longer feel that their life is worth living. I have helped to provide a compassionate, non-judgemental space for them to tell their stories and to explore what living might mean, often in the face of extremely difficult circumstances.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
