About me

My work as a therapist is based on the belief that change is possible. I believe counselling can change lives. I am passionate about giving people a space where they are heard, valued and understood, and assisting them to find the strength to overcome their difficulties, in order to lead fulfilling lives. I feel it to be an honour to be a part of this journey of change.

Deciding to access counselling can be a difficult first step for any of us, and I recognise the courage it may take to simply get to this point. This may be a time when you need to reach out in search of a safe, calm and confidential space in which to explore your feelings. I aim to offer you such a place, away from the pressures of everyday life, a place where you can be yourself, find yourself.

Whether you are in crisis, stuck in a painful relationship or struggling with emotional difficulties that won't seem to go away, my goal is to help you understand yourself in a rich and deep way so that you can better deal with the challenges that life inevitably brings.

I have worked with a wide variety of people and issues, in the UK and abroad, including addiction, bereavement, loss, spirituality, sexuality, identity issues, relocation, chronic physical health conditions, relationship and family issues, anger, and trauma.

I have worked in different settings, both NHS and voluntary sector, including agencies specialising in addiction and trauma, as well as services aimed at students and the LGBTQ community.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Additional information

It is not unusual to feel unsure about starting therapy. I understand this and am trained to help you with the decision. I offer you an initial consultation which carries no obligation, I would spend an hour with you exploring what is troubling you at the moment, identify the issues you feel you would like my help with, and decide together whether we can work together.

If we agree to proceed with counselling, we will find a regular time for your sessions.

My fees are £70 per therapy session.

I offer a limited number of concessionary spaces for people for whom counselling would not be affordable otherwise.
