About me

Each individual brings their own unique being, circumstances, interests, beliefs, histories and behaviours; in therapy we work together to explore these and how our current ways of being and relating may help and hinder us. Gestalt therapy can encourage us to experiment with less habitual and familiar emotions and ways of being so that we can potentially expand our options and develop more nourishing ways of being in the world. When we are struggling, we can often lose sight of our strengths and creativity, and therapy can help us re-connect with these supportive dimensions of our being as well as helping us develop healthier relationships with the people and worlds around us.

A warm and supportive therapeutic relationship can support us to face the various challenges that life brings, while helping us to connect with what is important to us. How do we navigate the challenges of a modern world in which fragmentation, disconnection, oppression and alienation from nature are the norm? Developing our capacity to work with painful feelings and the difficulties of our circumstances help us relate in a more meaningful way to ourselves, others and to our wider environment.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a postgraduate Diploma in Relational Gestalt Psychotherapy (UKCP). I have five years experience practicing both within an NHS IAPT service and in private practice. Previously, I was a researcher and teacher in the humanities and I have a PhD investigating the impact of trauma and systemic violence within our culture.
