About me

Hello and a very warm welcome to you!

My name is Amber and as a qualified person-centred experiential psychotherapist, I am here to accompany you on your healing journey.

Embarking on the path of therapy is a courageous step and I am here to listen and support you as I appreciate that talking about your experiences may be difficult. I am committed to creating a safe, warming and confidential space where you feel seen, heard, and valued to help you to explore any experiences that are important to you.

Within my practice I am dedicated to creating an equal therapeutic relationship that is built on empathy and acceptance. Experiential therapy involves engaging with emotions and experiences in the present moment. Together, we'll explore not just the 'what' but also the 'how' and 'why' of your feelings. This process can be transformative, as it allows for a deeper understanding and awareness of patterns, triggers, and the underlying roots of challenges.

Within our sessions I will not tell you what to do, advise or pass judgement, as after all you are the expert on your own life as you know you best! Instead, I'll walk beside you, providing guidance and support as you uncover your own insights and solutions. This collaborative approach can be incredibly healing, as you increase your self-awareness, self-acceptance, and gain a greater sense of agency in your life.

If you would like any additional information about the services I offer, please email me and I will be happy to arrange an informal chat.

Training, qualifications & experience

I completed a BA in Counselling & Psychotherapy, graduating with a First Class honours.

Since completing my degree, I have gained vast counselling experience of working with children, young people and adults who experience a wide range of well-being and mental health challenges. I use a range of different therapeutic theories and techniques to effectively engage with clients by providing a collaborative, supportive space where they can explore their feelings to facilitate healing and growth. The different therapeutic models that I utilise in my practice therapies within the tribes of the person-centred approach; for example, experiential, emotion focused theory, focus-orientated, gestalt etc. Using a range of therapeutic models helps to accommodate different client needs and experiences as every person’s healing journey is unique!

I take part in CPD (Continued Professional Development) and attend regular monthly Supervision as part of my ongoing development as a counsellor.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
