About me

My name is Aisling, I'm an integrative counsellor based in Exeter. I believe that the relationship is the most important aspect of the counselling process, with a safe and empathetic connection facilitating healing. I offer a non-judgemental, confidential and friendly space to talk and work through any issues which you may be struggling with.

I have experience of working with adults of different ages, experiencing a variety of problems such as, anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, bereavement, low self-esteem and everyday life difficulties to name a few. I have a specific interest in working with young adults, struggling with anxiety, depression, low confidence and self-esteem and who are looking to explore identity.

As an integrative counsellor, I work with a variety of different modalities, tailored to fit each client. I work in a client-led way, holding the belief that the client is the expert in their own life. Therefore, I do not offer advice, but I provide a supportive space to work through an individual's issues alongside them. I work with my clients to explore their beliefs and motivations, to identify the root cause of their problems.

Working together we can explore your worries and empower you to find solutions and make the changes you want in your life. We will explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours to better understand yourself and your relationships with others.

I offer face to face sessions in Exeter and also sessions via zoom and telephone, working with clients from all over.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor with an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling, and a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).

As a member of the BACP, I have undertaken accredited training and meet certain standards within my practice. I follow the BACP ethical framework to ensure my practice is safe, ethical and puts my clients first.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
