About me

Hello and welcome. My name is Aisling, I'm an Integrative counsellor based in Exeter. I offer a friendly, inclusive and down to earth approach to counselling. If you have found my page, then I imagine life might be feeling challenging at the moment, and you are looking to find some support.

Kindness and compassion are at the centre of my work, supporting without judgement, in a safe and confidential space. I believe that the relationship is the most important aspect of the counselling process, with an empathetic connection facilitating healing. It's important that you find the right counsellor for you, which is why I offer a free 20 minute, no obligation consultation call, to see whether you think working with me would be a good fit.

I have experience of working with adults of different ages, experiencing a variety of difficulties such as, anxiety, depression, overwhelm, stress, trauma, bereavement, low self-esteem and everyday life struggles, to name a few. As an integrative counsellor, I work with a variety of different modalities, tailored to fit each unique client. I work in a person-centred way, holding the belief that you are the expert in your life, therefore I do not offer advice but I provide a supportive space to facilitate exploration. My role is to walk alongside you as we discuss any issue you may be struggling with, working collaboratively to explore your beliefs, values, motivations and discover what brings you meaning in life.

Working together we can explore the relationship you have with yourself. The way we talk to and feel about ourselves is instrumental for how we interact with the world and form relationships with others. We can examine your self talk, explore how certain beliefs and behaviours have developed and find new ways to respond. If you're tired of never feeling good enough then developing self compassion can be a way to empower yourself, build confidence, set boundaries and find peace.

I offer face to face sessions in Exeter and via zoom and telephone, working with clients from all over. I also offer walk & talk sessions.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

"I have just finished a few months of counselling sessions with Aisling and wanted to say that the sessions have really helped me understand how to deal with my problems on a daily basis. I was in a bad place and the sessions really helped me to get back on track and also have a plan for the future. She was very helpful, compassionate and helped me feel more confident going forward. I am very grateful for the support, and felt instantly at ease. If ever I have further problems, I wouldn't hesitate to get in touch with Aisling, or recommend her to anyone I know who needs help in the future." - Anonymous
