About me

People may seek counselling for a variety of reasons.   When life is not working there can be emotional pain and struggles of various kinds.  No problem is too small or big to bring to counselling.

Counselling provides you with a safe place to process and share problems and difficulties within a confidential environment and without judgement.  In counselling people often discover more about themselves, within reflecting and processing their lives, which leads to increased self-awareness, breakthroughs and healing.  I meet with people with different beliefs, backgrounds and walks of life.

I am an integrative counsellor which means I apply different theories and training to the way I work.  Some of these theories are Gestalt, CBT, Attachment theory, inner child, creativity, Enneagram, Myers Briggs, Transactional Analysis, Internal Family Systems etc.  My training and experience help me to help you achieve your goal in counselling.

I have been practising as a counsellor for about 23 years.  My qualifications include an MA and BA Hons degree.  Until 2023 I was the year leader of a DipHe level degree course in counselling at Waverley Abbey College for 9 years and I have experience supervising, tutoring, marking and lecturing.

Fees: 1 to 1 counselling is £70 per session.  Couples counselling is £90 per session.  I have some capacity for lower-paying clients.  I receive regular supervision and keep the identity of clients confidential.  I offer a free phone or online meeting before the first session.

If you are interested please send an email or leave a message on my phone.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

ACC
Association for Christian Counsellors (ACC)

The Association of Christian Counsellors and Linked Professions is a professional body representing and setting standards for Christian counselling and care in the UK. The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.
