About me

                                               ***Availability***

I currently have no availability until around June 2024.

Do you suffer with anxiety, depression, guilt or shame?

Do you feel isolated because of a breakdown in family relationships, separation or divorce, betrayal by friends or estrangement from community?

Do you need to recover from the impact of domestic abuse?

Are you suffering from post traumatic stress/post traumatic stress disorder?

Perhaps major life changes have left you feeling lost, stuck, confused, distressed and ashamed?

I can work with you to work through the mental/emotional blocks arising from your difficult life experiences. I offer you a safe, confidential and non-judgmental healing relationship which will enable you to explore and discover your way out of stuckness into growth, movement and recovery.

I am experienced in working with those who are distressed due to displacement, loss, trauma and abuse as well as adults who have suffered bereavement be it through death, divorce or broken relationships. Many of my counselling clients have suffered with anxiety and depression brought about by different difficulties in their lives, while others have struggled with symptoms of post traumatic stress.

I am also experienced in working with clients who struggle with the strangulating effects of guilt and shame, as well as isolation, displacement, cultural issues, faith, diversity and a crises of identity.

In addition to working 1:1, I also run group therapy  - deliberately kept small - a maximum 6 participants.

I also work with couples or adult family members whose relationship is in crisis or those wanting to enhance the quality of their relationship.

My way of working is a trauma-informed person-centred approach integrated with pluralistic principles, psychodynamic concepts and psychoeducation.

I work holistically and relationally with the whole person - a humanistic model that facilitates growth.

I believe each person has the resources within themselves to grow and resolve their difficulties, given the right environment so I work collaboratively with clients to work through their difficult issues by providing the appropriate environment.

In our sessions, you will feel seen and heard because we would work in ways that suit your preferences.

If you would like to also work on practical goals such as life or career choices, as a qualified personal performance coach, I am well placed to work with you there too.

Bottom line is: if you feel stuck, I can work with you to get unstuck.  If you feel lost and confused, I can walk alongside you to find your way.  If you feel you've lost your voice and/or your sense of identity, I can work with you towards their recovery.

Do you need flexibility? In addition to face-to-face in person (suspended for the time being), I also offer telephone, email and video-link counselling.

Additionally, you don't need to be tied to one specific slot every week if that doesn't work for you, we can schedule as we go along.  However, if a fixed slot a week is your preference, we can work that way too: everyone is different, my commitment is to working with you in a way that best suits you.

Getting Started

Sometimes taking that first step can be toughest.  So, first of all, well done for browsing.

The next step would be to arrange an initial session. This is where we explore where you are, what you’d like to get out of therapy and to get a feel as to whether we feel we are a good fit to work together.  You can contact me to arrange a mutually convenient appointment and fees* (*see elsewhere in this listing).

At the end of that first session, you can decide whether or not you want to continue the work with me and how frequently.  Or you could take some time to think about it and come back to me.

If  you need clarification of anything, please feel free to ask.  Every question is welcome!  And so are you!

What else?

Online Group Therapy

Join me in group therapy (max 6 members) where you will work alongside others who are also on a journey of personal development and healing. Working through our issues in community can help reduce isolation.

Authentic connecting accelerates growth. The thought of opening up in a group can be anxiety-provoking. Please rest assured that what you bring to group will be entirely up to you. You will be under no pressure to do or share anything you are not comfortable with. You are encouraged to show up as you are, to go at your own pace…

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

ACC
Association for Christian Counsellors (ACC)

The Association of Christian Counsellors and Linked Professions is a professional body representing and setting standards for Christian counselling and care in the UK. The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
