About me

Reaching out for help takes courage at a time when you might be struggling, feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or generally stuck. My aim is to help you feel comfortable and safe within therapy, to build trust, and help you work through what has led you to reach out.

You might want to talk to me about feeling anxious or depressed, relationship difficulties or breakdowns, a recent diagnosis such as a health condition or ADHD, trauma you have experienced, dealing with a loss or change, work related issues e.g. burnout, bullying or impostor syndrome, or identity struggles. It maybe that something does not feel quite right with your life but you are unsure what it is.

I can help you by providing a calm and reflective space where we can explore and work through what is going on for you. Counselling can help to:

  • gain a greater level of understanding about yourself and your situation
  • improve your well-being and develop new coping strategies
  • process past experiences or future worries so that you can move forwards and feel more in control of your life
  • heal from trauma and find emotional balance
  • build your self-esteem, confidence, or personal resilience
  • empower you to make changes to live a more fulfilling or peaceful life

I am a relationally trained counsellor and psychotherapist which means I see a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship as key to bringing about change. I work in an integrative way which means I use a range of different counselling theories and techniques depending on the nature of the issue, and will tailor my approach to what might work best to meet your unique needs.

If you would like to find out more about how I can help you, and how we could work together, then please get in touch. I offer a free introductory telephone call of 20 mins.

I have worked as a therapist in a variety of settings within the voluntary and higher education sectors, helping clients of all ages with a wide range of issues and concerns. • Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy (Distinction) - University of Leeds
  • Certificates in Counselling Studies - Levels 2 and 3
  • Training to be able to work in a holistic trauma informed way
  • I regularly attend CPD training courses on a wide range of counselling related topics

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
