About me

You and me:

I am a warm and open-minded qualified and experienced therapist and will offer you compassion, honesty and a safe space to explore whatever is going on for you past or present.

I understand that life can be challenging, complicated and painful, and sometimes we don't know where to turn. It can be hard to express our thoughts and feelings to family or friends, but we can still need someone who will be by our side who can help. I would love to be that person for you, to help you with respect and care, human to human allowing you to know you are not alone.

I will work with you in a supportive way, where you can explore and reflect on whatever you wish to bring, leading to a sense of clarity and a way forward.

Sessions do not have to be the same day and time each week, and I offer some evenings and Saturdays as well as daytime appointments.

Why me?

People choose to come to me because they want to find a way to make changes in their life. They want to understand themselves more or they simply wish to be heard and valued. I do this by offering my warm acceptance of you, within an honest, genuine, kind and caring relationship. I hope to put you at ease and show my deep trust in you, whilst you begin to trust me

I also understand the effects that the below can have on us both physically and emotionally, and can help you to feel safe whilst we explore these through talking or creative ways. I can help ground you and give you time to pause if you need it, I always work at your own pace.

I typically work with people who have experienced or are experiencing abuse, anxiety, bereavement, burnout, trauma, self-esteem/confidence issues, depression, relationship, family issues, and the menopause. I also work with people who are neurodivergent (autism, ADHD, etc) or have family or friends who are and have personal family experience with this too.

This is not an exhaustive list, as life is complicated and can throw a whole host of issues in our path.

About therapy:

Therapy whether you have experienced it before or haven't, can feel like taking a leap into the unknown. I have been there myself and can appreciate how scary and brave it can feel. It can for some, feel like emptying that junk draw that we all have. We can look at each piece or just some, examine it closely or place it in a box for another day. Some pieces will be returned to the draw, but may look slightly different, and some pieces will be discarded as they are no longer useful in our lives.

Imagine a life without the experiences you may have at the moment, the clarity and ease that may bring. I can help you to achieve that and would be honoured to be a part of that journey.

I offer a free up to 20-minute call for us to get to know each other. I can answer any questions or fears you may have whilst you decide if I am the right person for you, with no obligation to continue with me. If you would like to find out more please contact me.

Where and when?

I have a room in Eastleigh within The Therapy Rooms, opposite Places Leisure with plenty of free parking which is minutes from both the M27 and the M3 and also has great public transport links. I can also offer online and telephone therapy.

I work on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and aim to be as flexible as possible to accommodate those working shifts or from home with varying meeting times. My flexibility means sessions do not have to be the same day and time each time.

Therapy is usually weekly but I understand this does not work for everyone, whether that be time-wise or financially, and fortnightly is also an option.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a first-class degree in person-centred counselling and psychotherapy and am an experienced therapist. I have previously worked in bereavement, with a youth organisation offering counselling and with a charity offering long-term counselling to people with a range of experiences.

I frequently attend extra training these include, but are not an exhaustive list:

  • Trauma
  • Being Neurodivergent
  • Abuse
  • Anxiety
  • Self-harm
  • Menopause
  • Exploring our childhood
  • Equality and diversity

I am also a registered member of the BACP and abide by their ethical framework and am fully insured and hold an enhanced DBS certificate.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
