About me

I’m Stu and I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling Practitioners (BACP). I have a varied background and a wealth of experience in lots of different areas with lots of different people. I’m truly passionate about mental health and how it can impact you.

Do you find your anxiety is impacting your day to day life and you don’t know how to stop it?

Are you feeling increasingly low?

Do you have teenagers that are struggling with anxiety, anger management or social anxiety?

I offer a free initial consultation for our counselling service. We believe that in order for counselling to work there needs to be a connection between you and your therapist, so the thirty minute initial consultation is for you to get a feel for what I do and what will work for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

My counselling room is at my property and is located within a converted outbuilding that is separate from the main house and offers a disturbance free, warm and comfortable space. The only noise you may hear would be sheep and the occasional cow!

The counselling sessions are very informal. I'll make us a cuppa, provide biscuits,  and we'll just have a chat and a bit of a giggle from time to time. I'll ask lots of questions to really get to the bottom of what has brought you to therapy and we'll figure it all out together, all at your pace.

When working with teenagers I understand that they're sometimes not very forthcoming with a conversation but I've got years of experience and have lots of tried and tested communicative tools to get them talking. Trust can be a huge barrier for teens and their therapist so I really take the time to build a solid rapport/connection that encourages deeper conversations as the sessions progress.
