About me

How I could help you

Sometimes the painful and difficult things in life can make us feel we cannot cope, change things or find a way forward. It can feel like we're not heard or understood, even by those that are close to us.

Counselling with me is about having some time for yourself, in confidence and without judgment, to talk about and explore whatever's on your mind and whatever you're feeling at your own pace.

What I offer

As a professional, qualified counsellor with wide, in-depth experience, I offer you the warmth, trustworthiness, acceptance and compassion you need in a welcoming, safe and confidential place so you can feel really heard, understood and accepted. We go at your pace, you lead the way.

My counselling is about supporting you in whatever you are going through, walking with you through the difficulties and helping you find your own way forward in your own time.

I offer different types of sessions - in-person ones based in Cookham, online sessions using a meeting app such as Zoom or Teams, or telephone counselling. Whichever is most suitable with you.

My experience and training

I am a fully qualified and very experienced professional counsellor, with a BSc Hons degree, a two-year PGDip Diploma and two one-year certificate course awards in counselling. I am registered with the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), and also continue my learning to develop professionally.

I work with clients privately, as well as through a counselling agency and with Windsor Homeless Project, helping people who may be homeless or in temporary accommodation and perhaps have alcohol/drug addictions.  Previously, I also worked as a school counsellor and as a college counsellor, as well as taught counselling at a local college.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • BSc (Hons) in Reflective Therapeutic Practice in Counselling
  • PGDip in Therapeutic Counselling
  • Certificate in Counselling Studies
  • Certificate in Counselling Skills
  • Certificate in Mental Health Problems

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Initially, I suggest getting in touch by email.

We can then arrange a friendly chat by phone or email to discuss your requirements.

I offer a free, no-obligation 30 minute introduction online or by phone to discuss how best I can offer counselling to you and to find out a bit more about your requirements.

If you wish to continue to a session, we can then discuss and agree a suitable time for an initial session to see how you feel about counselling and about us working together. It's really important that you feel counselling with me feels right for you and that you're very much in the driving seat regarding what feels best for you.

If you decide it's not for you, that's absolutely fine, and I may be able to help refer you to another local counsellor or other services.
