About me

Hi, my name is Sophie B O’Reilly.

When did someone last ask you if you were ok, and you answered truthfully.
Regardless the issue, I’m her to hold space for you to unpick and open those hidden boxes.

What you see is what you get with me, and my lived experience allows me to understand the best ways to address each client’s needs in a bespoke, client-friendly manner.  I believe that a one-size-fits-all approach doesn't work.

Depression and anxiety is a deep hole, I want to help you climb out of that hole but at your pace.

Every trauma and every human experience is unique to that person.
I’m a trauma informed, grief friendly individual therapist.

I use a mix of psychoeducational empowerment, somatic connection, grounding exercises and Humanistic and Existential therapy to help walk the road with you to wherever or however far you feel you can go.

Please remember this is your journey, you are in control.

Training, qualifications & experience

With a background in NHS and private health care I have extensive experience of working with depression and anxiety and grief.

I Qualified with Guildford college in Existential and Humanistic Counselling and have experience working within IAPT for the NHS, in short term, solution focused therapy.

I have also worked with The Awareness  Centre, Tooting.

I have largely focused my training and practice on supporting survivors of  domestic violence, as well as survivors of male & female sexual abuse.

I largely focus on empowerment and support and creating a stable environment for reflection.

I am a trauma informed therapist and I use the Judith Lewis Herman 3 stage Trauma model.

I am currently work with the prestigious Charity RASASC in Guildford as a counsellor and introductory group facilitator, teaching and supporting survivors of sexual assault.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
