About me

Therapy can be an effective process to explore your inner world, giving you opportunities to change, but it isn’t always easy. As a BACP accredited psychotherapist, I provide a space where we can explore your internal struggles and anxieties to understand them better. This process invites you into a deeper relationship with yourself and can influence many other aspects of your life.

One of my roles as your therapist is to do myself out of a job, therapy isn't a forever-commitment, but the timeline looks different for each of us. We therefore will always work with an end in mind, staying aware of your needs, goals and circumstances.

Our overall well-being is made up of a complex array of elements such as family/community dynamics, work, our personal identities, our health and more. This can sometimes make it challenging to identify ‘what is the matter’. I draw on a variety of therapeutic approaches to best facilitate your personal journey, considering the multiple aspects of your life such as your culture, spirituality, sexuality, body image, sense of purpose and more.

In coming to therapy, you may be clear on what issue you would like to work on, or you may want to explore more broadly. These are things that we will discuss in our introductory session, but we will also review them regularly throughout our time together so there is always space for you to change your mind.

I offer a free 30-minute call for us to have a short conversation to help you decide if you would like to take things further. After that, your first session with me is an opportunity for you to share a little more about yourself and to consider how you feel about me and my style of working. This is an important step as your relationship with your therapist is key in the development of your therapeutic journey. This is also a great time for you to bring any concerns or questions, and for us to discuss important topics such as confidentiality and fees.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
