About me

I am an integrative art psychotherapist and EMDR therapist, with a passion for the promotion of emotional wellbeing. I draw from a range of psychological therapies, including psychodynamic psychotherapy, to meet the individual needs of my clients, as I recognise one type of therapy does not fit all.

As an art psychotherapist, art materials can be used in sessions to provide space for expression and exploration of feelings that may be difficult to put into words. Throughout this form of psychotherapy, I encourage individuals to explore their experiences, without judgement or influence.

I have experience of offering EMDR to those with complex trauma. EMDR is a form of psychotherapy that helps individuals to process negative memories and images, emotions, beliefs and body sensations associated with trauma. It can relieve symptoms associated with trauma, such as flashbacks, nightmares, panic attacks, paranoia and many more.

Art Psychotherapy and EMDR integrate well together, however, they can also be used independently.

You might want to seek these therapies to address mental health conditions such as trauma, depression, anxiety, addiction, bereavement and eating disorders. Additionally, psychotherapy can support you with developing awareness of areas in life that have been challenging for you, such as relationships with others, personal history, your self-esteem and sense of self.

I am a member of BACP and UKCP, as well as the EMDR Association UK and Ireland.

Having completed my EMDR training I am working towards my Practitioner Status.

I offer online consultations and welcome an initial meeting, free of charge, to discuss how we might work together.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
