About me

I am trained as an integrative therapist, which means I am not limited to one therapeutic approach. Instead, I am able to choose from several approaches depending on you and your situation.

Crucially, I believe that people respond to other people rather than titles or qualifications. I am someone who will create an environment where you can choose to talk about any topic without judgment and with care and understanding. I will offer you a safe space to create a connection based on trust.

Throughout our counselling journey together, I will support you in facing your challenges and guide you to find relief from any overwhelming emotions. I believe counselling and psychotherapy can lead us to self-acceptance, self-discovery and contentment while strengthening our relationships with others.

Throughout my practice I've been fortunate enough to work successfully with a range of  clients and issues from the ages of 10-55.  Additionally, I have spent a decade working in education as a primary school teacher and have extensive experience working with individuals diagnosed with ADHD and ASD. My years as a teacher have also given me insights into managing and supporting individual needs, with their wellbeing my priority, as well as an awareness of how early experiences can shape lives.

My experience has shown that positive change to the quality of your life are absolutely possible. Whether you are struggling with new or historic events or circumstances in your life, want to learn more about yourself, or perhaps if you just don’t feel quite yourself I would love to work with you.

It can be a big commitment to choose the right counsellor for you. With that in mind, I offer a free 20 minute telephone assessment to see what you would like from counselling and how I may be able to help.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
