About me
Hello, I’m Rob and I am a fully qualified therapist. If you are going through a difficult phase in your life, you might find it helpful to talk to someone that is impartial to your circumstances – that is where I come in! I use my training and experience to listen to and assist you in working through your difficulties.
To get the most out of coming to therapy it is important that you find a therapist that fits you and what you are looking for. Therefore, I offer a free 20-minute consultation to discuss what you would be looking for in a therapist, and if this matches what I offer. This consultation can also be used to get to know each other without costing you anything if you decide not to proceed.
I am a calm and patient therapist and have been able to establish successful therapeutic relationships with clients from a variety of backgrounds, with a variety of issues. I am open and accepting of whatever a client feels they need to bring to our sessions. One of the most important features of my work is developing trust between me and you, so that we can progress our therapeutic relationship.
I have worked with patients with chronic illnesses for the past 6 years so I have developed an understanding of the stress, anxiety, and depression that can come hand in hand with chronic illness. Working with chronic illness enables me to understand the feelings of helplessness, overwhelm, anger, amongst a host of other feelings that my clients bring to me. Together we can experience those feelings, unpick and work through them, when you feel ready to.
I am professionally qualified and supervised, fully insured and a member of a professional body, meaning you can rest assured that I uphold excellent professional standards in my work.
I offer both online one to one counselling sessions and in person counselling through walk and talk therapy.
Walk and Talk therapy
Walk and Talk Therapy is exactly what it sounds like. If counselling online doesn't suit what you're looking for and you're local to Aberdeenshire or Aberdeen City we can meet up and take advantage of the great Scottish outdoors by going for a walk and having a counselling session at the same time. Walk and Talk therapy can feel less intimidating than a traditional counselling room for some people, preferring to work side by side than face to face.
Some additional benefits of getting out for exercise during Walk and Talk Therapy are:
- Reduces stress, anxiety and depression
- Reduces intrusive thoughts
- Lowers blood pressure
- Improves cardiovascular fitness
- Improves emotion regulation
