About me

It's not always easy to take that first step of seeking counselling support. Counselling is a form of self-care and it is a step towards better emotional wellbeing.

Whether you are feeling anxious, depressed, whether you have been bereaved or experiencing relationship problems or anything else, I will always endeavour to hold that space that feels comforting to open up in, one where you are heard and seen. I am passionate and care deeply about the work I do and will always be guided by your pace.

I will always aim to hold a safe space for you where you will be met with genuine curiosity and deep compassion. One that seeks to understand the world better from your experiencing.

Unlike the majority of relationships what stands out most in therapy is that YOU are at the centre of the therapeutic relationship. A relationship where you are heard, validated and supported to make the changes you feel are necessary to you. You'll be held safely during a part of your journey, whilst empowered to continue the rest of it autonomously.

I will always strive to tailor my counselling to meet your individual needs. Whilst the person-centred approach is always at the heart of how I practice I also incorporate and integrate other therapeutic approaches wherever helpful.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • I have an undergraduate degree in Sociology, Culture and Media which sparked my interest in society and people and led me to my career path as a counsellor.
  • I have an undergraduate qualification in Therapeutic Counselling and studied and trained for four years altogether before qualifying.
  • I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.
  • I have a lot of experience in areas of chronic pain and illness, bereavement, relationships, families, young carers, matters of faith and culture.
  • I have my own successful private practice and also volunteer with a kidney charity, supporting those with kidney disease.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
