About me

My name is Philippa, thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. I am an experienced therapist with a particular interest in attachment, early trauma and somatic Psychotherapy.

I really enjoy my work and helping my clients to understand who they are. I know that finding the right person to work with is also important to begin the process.

I offer a free initial session to give us time to talk to see if we can work together. With a warm and open approach, focusing on the relationship between myself and my client, we find creative ways forward with the aim of making positive change.

I have experience in working with a wide range of problems and have a special interest in childhood trauma, grief, separation, anxiety and anger. Feelings of  low mood or depression and struggles with low self worth and esteem.

I provide a safe confidential space within a professional setting for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. I like to work creatively and collaboratively.

Therapy can help a person to explore unconscious relationship patterns that are evolved from childhood and how this can affect a persons current thoughts, feelings and behaviour. When things are out of balance it can really help to have a therapeutic space to process feelings and experiences. I believe that when we increase awareness of our body, mind, heart and soul we can develop a deeper and truer sense of ourself.

I offer creative approach which encourages the person to draw on their inner creative resources and express their feelings without necessarily using words. This approach helps the person to communicate at their own level and their own pace.

For clients wishing to address their early childhood /developmental trauma or the underlying neurobiological causes for current or chronic anxiety/depression I also work with NeuroAffective Touch – a model developed by Dr Aline LaPierre, bringing together psychotherapy and somatic work. I am happy to discuss this approach during our initial session.

I prefer to work open ended with my clients, as this offers us a space to slow down and enable you to become more aware of who you are so that you can begin to live a more creative and fulfilling life.

I welcome any questions and I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
