About me

I work on the edge of Birmingham and the Black Country and am accessible from the Halesowen, Stourbridge, Dudley, West Bromwich and Oldbury areas.

I offer counselling and psychotherapy to clients of all ages and at all life stages, in particular adolescents, (with adverse childhood experiences), young adults moving from education to work, (including new parents) and adults experiencing family and relational problems.

My integrative psychotherapy model has evolved through clinical experience and an increased understanding of people and how they may present in therapy. I seek to fit my approach to the needs of each individual.

I am experienced in finding a way to engage individuals in therapy, so they feel respected, safe and supported and that they recognise the collaborative nature of our work together. I enable individuals to understand why they act or think as they do, build their self-confidence, so they can play a full role in making the necessary changes so they enjoy life more, achieve their potential and build robust relationships with themselves and others.

I offer both short term and long term work.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy and I am currently dual registered with UKCP as both a Child & Adolescent and Adult Psychotherapist.

I have worked as a qualified psychotherapist for over 20 years and have extensive experience of helping individuals to manage a wide range of issues.

I have particular experience in working with gender and sexuality issues, attachment, adverse childhood experiences, (abuse, DV, adoption, poor parental relationships, bullying or trauma etc. ), neurodiversity, family relationships, and loss through adoption, divorce or bereavement.

I have often worked with individuals who struggle to form stable relationships or to manage their emotions, and whose life experiences have left them with a negative view of themselves or their future or a past reliance on drink, drugs, sex etc coping mechanisms.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
