About me

Whether you are ready to start your counselling journey, or curious about this, I have immediate availability to meet you where you are at in this process.

The statement 'Your Past Does Not Define You' is a truth that I have come to appreciate in my own personal journey. Providing a safe space whilst exploring your difficult childhood experience and how this might impact you in adulthood I will offer acceptance, honesty and empathy in our work together. I personally understand that past life experiences can influence how we live in the present. Part of our work may include working with parts of younger self to help you find self acceptance, and regain your sense of self which may have been lost, or never known. From experience this process may be difficult yet highly rewarding, leading to a more fulfilled life. Appreciating your uniqueness, I endeavour to provide a safe and appropriate experience in the therapeutic work while giving you full ownership and autonomy in our work together.

My intention when working with you is to help you gain a more positive perspective of yourself as an individual, which will inevitably help you make choices which are right for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have graduated with a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (a CPCAB and BACP qualification). I am a Registered Member of BACP and currently working towards Accreditation.

I regularly undertake Supervision for my work and enjoy and value the challenge and support that this provides, promoting my capacity for reflective practice and helping me to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of my practice.

I am enthusiastic and committed to the adventures of ongoing personal and professional development whilst keeping up to date with research studies and attending specialist workshops across the UK regularly. These include Gabor Mate's  'Adverse Childhood Experience' aware nation conference.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
