About me

Hi, I’m Nicky! I’m a highly skilled, compassionate person focused counsellor who can support you to overcome your personal difficulties. My hope is that our relationship will develop into a comfortable yet professional place where you can be yourself and feel that I am genuine in wanting to help you to make your own choices about your life and concerns. I will not judge you and will give you the respect you deserve. Due to my friendly, empathic personality, it will provide you with the opportunity to feel relaxed and be open with me about your issues; this can feel less of a burden on yourself. We will work together to focus on your internal confusion/struggles helping you to learn to tolerate distress and regulate emotions. My practice promotes well-being, recovery, personal growth and self-discovery.

I have been practising for 13 years and my areas of expertise include; issues with self-worth and identity, anxiety disorders, depression, sexuality, relationship difficulties, trauma, student issues and difficulties experienced by ex-military clients.

I am an integrative therapist incorporating various modalities such as person-centred, CBT, EMDR, compassion and trauma focused therapies.

I am fully accredited with the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). BACP status ensures a commitment to high standards, enabling the public to have confidence that the therapist works ethically, is trained and is fully qualified.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
