About me

Thinking about starting therapy can feel overwhelming - especially if you’re already struggling. Maybe you’re feeling stuck, anxious, low, or caught in the same patterns that you can’t seem to break. You might not even be sure exactly what’s wrong - just that something isn’t working.

I’m an experienced and accredited Psychotherapist, and I offer a calm, supportive space where we can explore what’s going on for you, at your pace. Whether you’re dealing with longstanding issues or something recent and distressing, therapy can help you understand yourself more deeply, make sense of your experiences, and begin to move towards real, lasting change.

How can I help?

Starting therapy can feel like a big step - especially if you’re not used to talking about how you’re feeling. You might be dealing with anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, grief, a specific issue, or simply a sense that something isn’t quite right.

I offer a supportive, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can talk freely - at your own pace - about whatever is on your mind.

Therapy is available in person (from my private consulting room in Brighton’s North Laine, a few minutes from the station), or remotely via phone or online.

In our early sessions, we’ll explore what’s brought you here and the context around it - your background, relationships, and what you’re currently struggling with. Over time, we can focus more deeply on patterns and root causes, and work together to find ways of understanding and addressing what’s going on for you.

For some people, several weeks or months of therapy brings clarity and relief around a specific issue. For others, deeper or longer-standing struggles may need longer-term work. Most clients begin to feel a shift as the sessions progress - and a sense of having a safe place to return to each week.

My approach

I offer a space where you can talk about whatever’s on your mind - even things that feel messy, unclear, or irrelevant. Sometimes the things we dismiss or overlook turn out to hold the most meaning. I also work with dreams, which can offer a powerful window into our unconscious thoughts, feelings, and internal conflicts.

My core training is in psychodynamic psychotherapy, which explores how our early life experiences and relationships continue to shape how we think, feel, and relate to others in the present. We might look at patterns that repeat, parts of yourself that feel stuck or hidden, or feelings that are hard to name. Over time, making sense of these can lead to greater self-awareness and the possibility of lasting change.

I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Each person is different, and therapy should reflect that. Together, we can shape the work in a way that feels meaningful and manageable to you - drawing from a range of ideas and techniques when needed.

My practice is inclusive, affirming, and open to people from all backgrounds. I’m experienced in working with difference and diversity, and my practice is LGBTQIA+ affirmative.

Training, qualifications & experience

I’m a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and an Accredited Psychodynamic Psychotherapist registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC). These are two of the UK’s leading bodies for the profession and I abide by their strict ethical codes.

I undertook a rigorous course of training and personal therapy which took over 4 years and included the PgDip in Psychodynamic Psychotherapeutic Counselling from Brighton University and the Clinical Qualification in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy from the British Psychotherapy Foundation (BPF).

I’ve worked as a clinician with a wide range of clients of different ages and backgrounds in various settings, over several weeks, months, or years. I’ve worked in private practice, for agencies in Brighton and London, for an employee counselling scheme, and at a university counselling service. I also volunteer for the NHS in an acute psychiatric hospital.

I have a background in community work and pastoral care and I have experience of working with and listening to a wide range of people. I hold degrees in Maths and Theology.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
