About me

I'm a fully qualified person-centred counsellor who puts you and your needs at the centre of everything we do. I am compassionate, empathic, non-judgemental and a good listener which makes me very easy to relate and talk to.

Telephone Counselling currently available for those who want or need to stay at home.

I work with adults with a range of issues from anxiety, depression and bereavement to life changing illnesses, conflict, self esteem and general life stresses.

I can help whatever your goals are, helping you understand yourself and/or others better, I'll support you in whatever you are experiencing and help to find ways of dealing with your experiences that work best for you.

"Get started"

I believe that it is important that you find the right therapist for you and for this reason I offer a free twenty minute assessment of your needs so that I can be sure that I am able to help you and for you to check me out to see if you feel comfortable working with me.

You can call 01606 278589 and either leave a message or speak to me directly if I'm available or just email mikegreen.pom@gmail.com to discuss your needs and arrange an initial session.

"How can Counselling help?"

Counselling can help in many ways, firstly it gives you a safe, non-judgmental and confidential space for you to be heard, understood and valued. It can help you explore and understand your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, which will allow you to develop ways of coping better, develop self-love, compassion and self-esteem, and I will support you through times of discomfort, anger, unhappiness and/or sadness and empower you to make appropriate changes that are right for you.

There are so many more ways in which counselling can help, it just depends on your needs and what you want from life. There are certain circumstances that we can't change in which case new ways of thinking, behaving and coping are required and we can explore the best ways forward and you will have my full support. It's great to have someone in your corner.

"What can I expect from my first session?"

In the first session we'll get to know each other, we'll do some basic paperwork around contact information and privacy. I'll explain in more detail how I work as you settle in and I'll ask what has brought you to counselling. You only need to tell me whatever you feel comfortable telling me and we'll look at what you might like to get out of our counselling sessions.

This will take about 20 minutes and is completely free of charge. If you decide that you don't wish to continue with the session then you may leave with no further obligation. However if we both decide that we can work together then we can continue with the session and again it's completely up to you what you talk about. I may ask some questions for me to gain a better understanding or clarity.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
