About me
Hello, I'm Mel, a dedicated Integrative Gestalt therapist committed to supporting children, teenagers, young adults, adults on their journey toward improved mental health, self-discovery and holistic wellbeing. At my private practice, I create a safe, confidential, non-judgmental and empathetic space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours in the present moment.
About my approach:
In Gestalt therapy, we focus on the here and now, encouraging self-awareness and personal responsibility. Together, we'll work to uncover patterns, identify barriers to growth, and foster a deeper understanding of your unique experiences. My goal is to facilitate transformative change, helping you build meaningful connections and lead a more fulfilling life.
I am a bilingual Integrative Gestalt Therapist and offer confidential and non-judgmental therapy/counselling in German and English. Apart from working in my private practice as a therapist and supervisor, I work as a University Student Counsellor at the London School of Economics.
I also offer supervision.
A little bit about myself and my experience so far:
I have been working as a psychotherapist for 14 years. From 2010 to 2012 - apart from being a Secondary School teacher - I worked as a school counsellor and in private practice in Austria.
Then I moved to the UK and from 2012 to December 2015 I worked at Your Space, a company that specialises in offering counselling and therapy to children and teenagers throughout primary and secondary schools in West Sussex. I also offer Play Therapy which is a very helpful way to engage children in therapy.
From 2012 to July 2017, I worked as an associate counsellor at the University of Southampton and the Royal Holloway University, where I helped students and staff deal with personal, academic and work issues in a short-term setting.
Besides working as an associate counsellor, I also worked as a Specialist Mental Health Mentor at the Royal Holloway University from October 2015 to December 2017, supporting students with more complex mental health diagnoses.
As the Clinical Counselling Lead, Senior Mental Health Adviser, and Supervisor at Richmond College from 2017 to April 2024, I provided counselling support to students, facilitated placements for trainee therapists (incl supervision), and collaborated with the Senior Management Team to promote positive mental health across the college.
My eight years experience as a secondary school teacher in a comprehensive school in Austria (English, psychology, philosophy and ethics) has helped me greatly in my approach to counselling/therapy with children and adolescents.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
