About me

Hello my name is Mandy welcome to my page. I am a registered Humanistic counsellor, predominantly Person centred. I have experience working with clients who bring varied subject matters such as Feeling sad, Anxiety, depression, low self esteem, controlling relationships, domestic abuse, family problems. Maybe your caring for someone and had to put your needs on hold or perhaps you have a number of things going on and you need more clarity.

Additionally, I also have in depth experience and knowledge of working with individuals who have addictions. Although some people might want to 'give up' their addictions, some people might just want to moderate their interaction. Addiction can come in many other forms such as drugs and/or alcohol, food, gambling, exercise, sex, shopping, social media etc There can be many reasons why people become addicted, it may be a symptom of another source from the past, present or future worries. Loneliness, boredom, difficult relationships, low self esteem, anxiety, depression, are just a few of many reasons. The act of using something to change the way you feel can appear useful at first, but when the activity becomes the focus of your daily life this can become an added problem to the way you already feel.  I can help you make changes for you to bring back your sense of control and feel more comfortable in your life.

How can counselling help you ?

Sometimes we reach a point where we feel like we're struggling, things are stuck or something just doesn't feel right and the anxiety/ depression is just too much especially as the world has been through a global pandemic in the last few years.  Counselling can feel like a  daunting step to make especially when your feeling vulnerable and you have no previous experience. It is important that you choose the right counsellor for you, someone who can put you at ease and give you a sense of safety. This will enable you  to explore your feelings without feeling judged. Many people who have attended counselling say that they grow through the experience and leave with hope for the future.

What is counselling therapy? It is described as talking therapy, a dialogue which is non judgemental, confidential and a safe place to talk to an impartial person about your worries. My part is to listen and help you to gain awareness of yourself. My method relies on collaboration with me acting as a guide for you to explore what you need.

What happens in the free consultation?                                                                     After you have contacted me, we can arrange to talk together about your needs and expectations of counselling. This will give you the opportunity to ask any questions and see how you feel about us working together. After our talk you have the option to take some time to come to a decision.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
