About me

I can help you explore your difficulties in a confidential space and help you pinpoint problem areas in your life.  We can think together about how you can do things differently or just put another perspective on the issue.  I feel passionately about enabling people to regain a sense of control of their lives and to have more fulfilling relationships. I welcome people from all cultures.

Experiencing difficult thoughts and feelings is common, but sometimes they seem to take over and start to impact other areas of your life. Do you avoid people or places because they are too stressful? Have you lost enjoyment in your life? Maybe you are going through a period of change and or had a bad experience and need some support in re-evaluating your situation. I provide a space where you’ll be heard and not judged.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked in education for over 15 years in primary schools, sixth-form colleges, and higher education. Over the last decade, my interest has developed in the effects of adverse experiences on individuals, how they can transcend families and communities, in both beneficial and detrimental ways. I also work in cross-cultural settings supporting people who have fled from war and conflict.

My qualifications include:

  • Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (CPCAB)
  • MSc in Psychological Trauma (University of Chester)
  • Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), working towards Accreditation with EFT International (EFTi)

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
