About me

Modern life can be difficult. I am experienced in helping people with issues such as stress, anxiety and sadness which can be a part of daily living. Talking to someone who is qualified to support you can help to explore the roots of your issues and work together to move forward in a healthier way, enabling you to deal with whatever life throws at you in the future.

I believe we are all a product of nature and nurture, we develop who we are as a consequence of our experiences and beliefs in childhood and throughout our lives. This can become our unconscious pattern of being, our ‘life script’. It can be helpful to uncover these thought processes in therapy, to see if how we learned to relate to others and to ourselves and the world in childhood is still helping us now. Making these unconscious patterns conscious can help us to choose how to move forward in our lives.

Areas I often work with include; anxiety and panic, anger management, bereavement and loss, depression, issues with food, loneliness and isolation, personal growth and exploration, relationships, self esteem, stress, teenage issues.

Training, qualifications & experience

CPCAB Counselling skills- Certificate level 2

CPCAB Counselling studies - Certificate level 3

CPCAB Therapeutic Counselling - Diploma level 4

For the last 3 years I have worked as a counsellor within the NHS, speaking with clients with a wide range of issues, such as anxiety & depression, relationship problems, low confidence and self esteem, disordered eating, bereavement, abuse, stress and many more issues that can affect everybody throughout any stage of their lives.

I have experience working with young people in both an academic and pastoral role in a further education setting, as well as working in a formal counselling service at a local college. For 12 months I worked as part of an amazing counselling team in a charity supporting people affected by eating disorders and and also worked as part of their outreach program in local colleges.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
