About me

Do you feel like past events are affecting how you cope with life today?
Do you feel anger easily and sometimes feel guilty about it afterwards?
Do you wish you'd stop the anxiety?
Do you feel like everyone is looking at you?
Some nights you might feel like you're not enough...
Some nights you might feel like you don't know what enough is...
Sometimes you just want to put yourself first but the guilt just hits you...

Choosing a counsellor is an important part of reclaiming your life: choose another human being to connect with, someone with whom you can truly 'gel' with. So, Hi, I’m Lalida. Nice to meet you :)

More about me...
I am an experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist, with a registered membership with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I worked in the National Health Service (NHS) and in a charity for those affected by sexual abuse and domestic abuse. I am based in Nottingham. My name might have you guessing where I am from - I am from Bangkok, Thailand.

My approach...
I am qualified as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist from the University of Derby in a Master’s degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy accredited by BACP. I utilise a range of psychological approaches including CBT, Person-Centred Approach, Attachment Therapy, Mindfulness and Compassion-Focused Therapy to help adolescents, and adults experiencing emotional and psychological distress.

"I’m an integrative therapist which means I apply multiple approaches to work with you. I don’t believe in a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach, so I customise, tailor and personalise our sessions to fit your needs."

  • Person-Centered Approach
In the PCA, the focus is on you, the client. I believe in creating a warm and accepting environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. I’m not here to tell you what to do. You know yourself the best. This approach allows you to work towards your self-discovery and how you can grow.
  • Attachment Theory
Attachment theory explores the impact of early relationships on our emotional well-being. In our sessions, we'll explore how your past attachments might influence your current relationships and behaviours. Understanding these patterns can pave the way for healthier connections with others and with ourselves.
  • Cognitive-Behavioral Theory
CBT is a practical and goal-oriented approach that examines the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. We'll work collaboratively to identify and challenge negative thought patterns, developing effective coping strategies to use in any life's challenges.
  • Compassion-Focused Therapy
Compassion-focused therapy is all about self-compassion and understanding. We'll explore ways to develop kindness and acceptance toward yourself. This approach can be particularly beneficial in managing self-criticism and discovering and strengthening resilience carried within you.

My experiences....
I have worked with clients with a range of difficulties that include and are not limited to relationship problems, trauma, domestic violence, sexual abuse, rape, anxiety, depression, panic, OCD, eating disorders, bereavement, self-harm, work-related stress and low self-esteem.

Our therapy journey...
While I take my clients' well-being very seriously, I also believe in incorporating aspects of humanity, and humility. It's my aim that you feel at ease and empowered to bring your complete self to our sessions.

I strongly believe that you know yourself the best, therefore, I’m here to listen, not to diagnose, and understand how you came to be. We live in this world where there are expectations of how a person should be, so that might overshadow your true self. But who are you, beneath the layers of external influences? Who is the person that emerges when the world's expectations fade away?

Culture awareness...
Culture, Identity, Find your Place, Bringing a piece of Thailand with me, I've walked the path between two cultures and truly understand the challenges of finding your place. I'd also faced the cultural shifts and language hurdles firsthand. I genuinely understand where you're coming from, which allows us a stronger connection.

*I currently offer online and telephone counselling.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration.
