About me
Hello I’m Kirsty. I predominantly work as a Person-Centred Counsellor, allowing my clients time to explore what has bought them to counselling. I offer a safe, secure, confidential space where my clients can feel comfortable to unravel what is at the core of their feelings, which could be related to life experiences, or formed thoughts and patterns of behaviours. My hopes are for my clients to find more comfortable ways of thinking about their life, encouraging them to gain self-confidence, and self-belief.
As a counsellor I adapt the way I work to suit each client, as every client is unique, and everyone works well with different approaches. I do this by integrating therapies to best suit the individual needs of each client. I find that people come to counselling for many reasons, whereby they have reached a point in their life that they want some support in gaining some understanding of their reasons for accessing counselling.

Experience
During my studies, I undertook dual placement, one within an NHS setting, and the second with a young person’s mental health charity. Within the young person's mental health charity, I worked within a primary school supporting young children, with the YMCA supporting young homeless people, and with a young persons charity counselling young people online.
More recently alongside my private practice I have worked at Weston Hospicecare as a Children and Young Persons Counselling Coordinator supporting young people and their families through bereavements and providing training to other professionals who are supporting young people. Within my private practice I have worked with Reclaim charity supporting victims of abuse and i also work with the Young Carers Organisation supporting Young Carers.
Having completed the course in Dysfunctional family counselling, I now have an understanding of family systems, and am able to practice this within my work. Throughout my working life I have supported many families through various difficulties, this is something I am passionate about doing.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Individual Adult Counselling and Individual Child Counselling - £45 (per 50-minute session)
Couples - £55 (per 50 minute session)
Families - £65 (per 50-minute session)
Evening and weekend sessions for individuals - £50 (per 50 minute session)
Evening and weekends sessions for couples - £60 (per 50 minute session)
Evening and weekend sessions for families -£70 (per 50 minute session)
The sessions are generally at the same time and same place every week. I charge for missed sessions, as is customary counselling and psychotherapy practice. Exceptions are made for pre-arranged holidays or appointments.
