About me

I am a qualified, registered accredited and experienced counsellor working in independent practice in East Lancashire. I work from The Coach House in Rhyddings Park in Oswaldtwistle. I also provide telephone or Zoom counselling sessions and walk and talk sessions.

If you are housebound or live in a care home, I can come to you.

At certain times we all at go through situations which seem to overpower us, during these difficulties in life we can end up feeling overwhelmed, depressed, angry, anxious and out of control.

Counselling is a great way to explore in a safe and confidential space exactly how you are feeling. It allows you the opportunity to talk openly without any distractions or judgement. Counselling gives you the luxury of being able to focus on yourself and your needs, letting you work through your own issues at your own pace.

I work using an integrated approach.  I am a Person Centred Counsellor, qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and a Master Practitioner in Neuro Linguistic Programming. I ensure sessions meet your needs. I will help you work through your challenges, concerns and help you to understand your feelings better.

Counselling focuses on you as a person and your own requirements; each session works around you and are tailor-made to suit each person individual needs.

I am passionate about the power of counselling and how it can help people to resolve difficulties or areas of unhappiness in their life. Counselling is a great investment for your future and well being.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), and I work using an Ethical Framework which ensures we work together in a safe and effective way.  Also I am a member of the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).

I specialise is anxiety and stress management. I provide one to one support and group workshops helping organisation and individuals improve their well being.

I have worked with hundreds of clients helping them deal with problems such as generalised anxiety disorder, depression, bereavement, redundancy, seasonal affective disorder, family issues, anger management, menopause, sexual abuse, feeling sad, loss of confident, low motivation, work related issues, stress, stalking, loneliness and PTSD. I believe that everyone has the ability to heal themselves/or find coping strategies if they are given the time, space and right core conditions to do this.

I also provide Supported Therapy for people with significant long term mental illness, working alongside the NHS.

I also design and deliver bespoke well being courses in terms of managing mental health.

Training, qualifications & experience

I worked for many years as a Distribution Centre Manager, in this role managing large teams of people. I decided to study counselling to help me develop my professional man management skills and enhance my own personal development. My counselling training proved invaluable in helping me to support my colleagues during difficult times.

I found myself being drawn into helping others with personal issues and I wanted to be able to offer professional advice and support to others. By studying I found that I really enjoyed using counselling skills and decided to continue my studies and study for a Level 4 Diploma to enable me to change my career and become a full-time counsellor.

I have worked using counselling skills within the workplace and I have also spend time working as a volunteer in the Charity Sector. My volunteering experience has given me a wide range of clients with different issues.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
