About me

I am Katherine, a passionate "trauma informed" therapist who specialises in working with individuals who are neuro diverse and/or have experienced; trauma, anxiety, burnout, depression, low self esteem, feeling lost, relationship issues, bereavement.

I use a holisitic approach to therapy and having qualified in many therapeutic techniques as I believe in the mind body connection.

I bring in techniques from NLP and hypnotherapy and look at patterns that are holding clients back with unconcious processes and help them learn how to become more decisive and not so much of a "people pleaser" that their needs are at the bottom of the pile.  This is done with awareness and strong boundaries.  Moving into no longer feeling guilty for taking their own feelings and desires into account - moving into a sense of a soothing calm.

Can you identify with these?

Never quite fitting in.  Constantly worrying about what other people think?

Needing to be more decisive.  Overthinking everything.  Finding rejection SO painful.

Many people are coming to see me because they are feeling overwhelmed, stressed, anxious and/or depressed.  Sometimes they are not sure what is wrong but want to work on their identity and/or purpose.

To navigate life’s challenges, problems and uncertainties, I am a great believer in the importance of finding headspace in a safe and confidential environment. A place away from the demands and expectations of others and away from the never-ending “to-do” list

You might not be clear about what has caused your distress, you might just feel that something is “not right”

Counselling & or Hypnotherapy is about listening and understanding without judgement. It is a process of calming them mind and body to help you access your inner resources to overcome painful emotions, to change negative habits and eliminate stress and embrace your authentic self.

I work alongside clients helping them to understand and regulate emotions and learn techniques/strategies to support them during difficulties.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
