About me

Healing happens when we have the courage to share our story with someone who can hear it with empathy and understanding.  I look forward to hearing your story.

I provide a safe space where you can explore your feelings and issues away from your daily life.  I look to identify the root cause of an issue rather than focus on the symptoms.  This means that I can work with all kinds of issues such as depression, anxiety, loss, grief, low self esteem, divorce, eating disorders, etc.

The root cause may be hidden in unconscious beliefs we have about ourselves and others or in feelings we suppress.  I can help you unravel your thoughts and feelings to find understanding and meaning.  You will become more aware of how you relate to others.

Psychodynamic counselling is evidence-based and supported by the latest developments in neuroscience.

I offer:

Weekly open-ended psychodynamic counselling for adults

This involves deep work looking to identify the origins of anxiety and depression. We work at your pace and you can attend for as long as you need. We will look to the past, current relationships and our relationship in the counselling room.

Weekly time-limited counselling for adults

Brief work of 8, 12 or 16 sessions to focus on one recurrent pattern of behaviour. This is particularly suited to Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs).

I offer face-to-face counselling in Purleigh, Essex, easily accessible from the Chelmsford, Maldon, South Woodham Ferrers, Billericay and Wickford areas.

I also offer telephone counselling or online counselling via Zoom.

Contact me to arrange an assessment session to see if you are happy to work with me. I understand that it may feel scary to start counselling but don't worry, it'll be ok. I will take a history and we can identify your objective for the counselling. The assessment session is 1 hour with subsequent sessions lasting 50 minutes. We will agree a day and time for counselling and this will be your regular slot.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
