About me

My way of working is relational and client-centred. I feel the primary focus is to develop a therapeutic relationship based on trust and compassion. I want to offer you a safe space, to be heard without judgement, where all of you can be accepted, and where there are no expectations. As an existential counsellor, I draw on what it means to be human and want to explore with you, your current difficulties and past patterns. Together we can discover and bring awareness to your way of being in the world, and relating to yourself and others. With awareness, I believe comes hope of developing a better understanding of how you might move forward and come to better terms with life and all of its confusing complexity.

I have studied psychology, counselling, and psychotherapy, and am informed in a number of approaches including existential, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural, and compassion-focused therapy.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Michigan. I have a postgraduate qualification in Psychology, and am a graduate member of the British Psychological Society. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am also a member of the Universities Psychotherapy and Counselling Association. I am currently undergoing studies to obtain a doctorate in counselling psychology and as such I am a trainee Counselling Psychologist, MBPsS.

I have years of experience working therapeutically with individuals across the age spectrum. I have worked with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, bereavement, gender, gender identity, sexuality, health, HIV, relationships, self-esteem, and loneliness.

I have worked with the Samaritans, NHS Talking Therapies, MIND, and the Terrence Higgins Trust.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
