About me
I have been working therapeutically with clients since 2004, offering them a non judgmental therapeutic model based on various trainings, extensive experience with a grounded approach to support any issues that they may bring. To give a few examples, clients may be experiencing a sense of feeling lost or out of kilter, or may come into therapy because they are feeling overwhelmed by anger, stress or depression, or are feeling challenged by difficult life-changing events and/or experiencing relationship difficulties with a partner, family member, friend or a colleague at work. Whatever the issues taking that first step and talking through with someone is often an important milestone of a therapeutic journey.
To give some background, I am a Psychotherapist and a Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA) and I have many other additional trainings under my belt. Transactional Analysis (developed by Dr Eric Berne in the 1950s) is an extremely versatile and widely recognised form of modern humanistic psychology. The name I am most known by is Jay and to gain a broader picture of how I work, please see my website www.jayeast.co.uk - I work with individuals, couples and groups - I work face to face and online via Zoom or other such medium.
“Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom” ~ Aristotle
I believe all clients to be individuals who possess their own unique blueprint, (which is physical, mental, emotional, biological, historical, phenomenological and psychological in nature). I consider that each and every individual client requires from their therapist a spaciousness to support them in their work and a variety of skills and approaches to facilitate their therapeutic journey. My style of working supports me to provide an individually tailored integrative therapy for each of my clients.
I am an ethical and skilled practitioner and I provide a space for clients that is safe, confidential and non-judgemental. I work collaboratively with my clients, supporting them to resolve their issues and reach their desired life goals.
My Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy training and the other valuable additional trainings that I have undertaken over the years - together with my own vast life experience - supports the many issues that clients bring to me in their therapy. I have the capacity to provide a range of therapeutic styles, from a more short term therapy using counselling and behavioural approaches, to a more in-depth long term psychotherapy approach.
A little more about me
To share a little back ground with you, in my earlier years I worked in commerce and industry within high stress environments before entering into the nursing profession, where I qualified as a Registered General Nurse, initially specializing in critical care for adults. These valuable experiences provided insights that continue to support me in developing and maintaining my curiosity and interest in working with the complexities of our common humanity and individual natures. As such, I have worked with a diverse range of people of differing ages and from all walks of life.
In summary
The foundation and structure of my psychotherapeutic practice with my clients is a creative and integrative style grounded in Transactional Analysis, which was developed by Eric Berne in the 1950s and is a widely recognized form of modern humanistic psychology. From my own individual journey, experiences and many years of working with clients, I have found Transactional Analysis to be incredibly effective, supporting clients to understand the complexities of themselves and their human relationships. This understanding helps them to make different life choices and via their therapeutic journey move towards the life they want, rather than a life that - on some level - may have been preordained, due to their unconscious issues.
If you are struggling or you are finding yourself in repetitive negative cycles in your life maybe today is the day for you to do something different by reaching out for support. I have a dedicated therapy space and offer online therapy via a medium of your choosing such as Zoom or Skype.

Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The Association for Counselling and Therapy Online
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
