About me

Whether you are seeking assistance for a specific issue or simply desiring personal growth, using a supportive and collaborative approach, I endeavor to empower individuals to navigate life's challenges, cultivate resilience, and improve overall well-being.

Using an integrative approach which brings together skills and practices from CBT, existential, person centred, ACT and more, we can work together to address the problems you may be facing and increase your well-being and mental health.

Therapy works by building a trusting relationship with someone who is trained to listen and support you to help develop tools and strategies to manage feelings, emotions and relationships more effectively.

Talking therapy has been shown to be beneficial for a large number of issues, including (but not limited to):

  • Mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety and OCD
  • Physical health concerns such as chronic pain and long term illness
  • Bereavement
  • Relationship problems
  • Addiction
  • Phobias
  • Anger Management
  • Trauma recovery - including military service, natural disasters, domestic and sexual abuse and displaced citizens

I have particular experience in domestic and sexual abuse in men and women, including childhood sexual abuse and parenting children who have been sexually abused.

Get in touch to find out more about how we can work together on issues such as those listed above to support you in building a more satisfied and fulfilled life.

Training, qualifications & experience

My journey to becoming a counsellor has been a long and winding one and includes several years working within education - both secondary and tertiary - within organisations and within charities and social enterprises.

I have completed levels 2 and 3 in Counselling Skills and training with CPCAB and a Level 7 PGDip in Counselling and Coaching with the University of East London.  Additionally I also hold a Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People, a PGDip in Mental Health Recovery, a PGCE and have completed a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Philosophy.

I specialise in working with domestic and sexual abuse and childhood sexual abuse and trauma. Though I am qualified to work in many areas, including the following:

  • Working with suicide and self-harm, including suicidal ideation and thoughts
  • Bereavement
  • Disordered eating and body image
  • LGBTQIA+ friendly practice
  • Neurodivergence
  • Depression and Anxiety
  • Addiction and Substance Abuse
  • Pre-trial therapy

CPD is a core component of any effective therapist's practice, and I continually update and expand my knowledge of psychotherapeutic practice and support, as well as specialist training with specific mental health and psychiatric conditions.

I am an accredited member of NCPS (National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society) which uphold a strict code of ethics and aim to ensure client safety and wellbeing throughout the therapeutic journey.

I am also a Fellow of the Mental Health Collective which brings together professionals by training and professionals by lived experience of mental health concerns and services to better support and advocate for those most in need.

I am also a proud member of the Victim Focus Charter which follows a trauma informed approach and upholds the promise to actively challenge and prevent victim blaming, and support all those whose lives have been impacted by trauma and abuse.

I have an up to date enhanced DBS certificate and hold a Level 3 Certificate in Safeguarding Children and Young People.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
