Integrative Counselling Therapist - MBACP, MNCPS Acc.

About me

Hello, I'm James from Inner Insight Counselling. Are you seeking a deeper understanding of yourself and a clearer path forward? Life's challenges can feel overwhelming, whether they manifest as anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem. I'd like to reassure you that there is a space where you can explore these feelings and work towards lasting change. I am passionate about creating that supportive environment for you. Recognising your unique experiences, I practice as an integrative counsellor, which means our sessions will be as individual as you are. Together, we will draw upon a range of therapeutic techniques to build the right approach for you.

I start with the core belief that you already possess the strength for self-discovery, growth, and healing. The foundation of our work is a partnership - a deep therapeutic relationship built to help you feel safe, truly heard, and empowered. This connection is fundamental to making sense of your experiences and building confidence in your own choices. I will hold a space for you to connect with your inner wisdom whilst listening deeply to your story and identity, and to offer both my professional expertise and my genuine humanity.

For those impacted by trauma, I offer Rewind Therapy. This powerful imagery-based technique effectively reduces the distress of traumatic memories, PTSD, and flashbacks, typically in just one or two online or phone sessions, with lasting results and a high success rate (>85%).

One of the big questions - why choose me as your counsellor? For over a decade, I worked on the front lines at the NSPCC and Childline, helping children and young people through their most difficult moments - I also supported adults on the child protection helpline run by the organisation. My work wasn't just about providing direct support; I was also responsible for training and managing other counsellors to ensure a safe and effective helpline service. This hands-on experience in high-pressure situations, combined with my academic background, gives me a unique perspective. I have a deep, practical understanding of the challenges people face and a passion for providing psychological care and promoting wellbeing.

The next step is yours to take, whenever you feel ready. If you're ready to talk, I'm ready to listen. Let's embark on your journey of self-discovery, and I'll be by your side to support you.

Finding Support When You Need It

Maybe you're finding things tough with your mental health, perhaps life feels overwhelming right now, or maybe you just need a safe and non-judgmental ear. Whatever brings you here, however complicated or upsetting things feel, support is available at Inner Insight Counselling.

Experience You Can Trust

With over a decade dedicated to supporting people, I bring experience and professional commitment to my practice. I'm a registered BACP member and Accredited Registrant of the NCPS, fully insured, DBS-checked, and ICO registered, ensuring ethical and confidential support.

How We Work Together: Your Journey

Think of our counselling work as a shared journey. You know your path best – I'm here to walk alongside you, listening carefully as you share what your journey looks like and feels like. When you encounter forks in the road, we'll pause together and explore what lies ahead, and focus on empowering you to choose the direction that feels right for you. Sometimes this means learning to reframe your perspective; other times it involves looking back to understand how past twists and turns have led you here, even if the journey hasn't always made sense. We can also explore how relationships have helped or hindered you along the way. Ultimately, I hope our work together provides lasting strength for your continued journey.

Specialised Trauma Support: Rewind Therapy

For those affected by trauma, Rewind Therapy can be incredibly helpful. It aims to significantly reduce distressing symptoms like flashbacks, help you feel more in control, and support emotional healing and closure. My website offers more detailed information on this approach.

Session Details & Getting Started:

Sessions are 50 minutes long. Counselling can be brief or ongoing, and while weekly sessions are common we'll find a frequency that works for you.
To help you decide if I'm the right fit, I offer a free, no-obligation 10-minute phone call. It's a chance to discuss your hopes for counselling and ask me anything.

Ready to connect? Please call (leave a voicemail if I can't answer), email, text, or WhatsApp. I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
