About me

Hello and a warm welcome!

I am glad you found your way here.

You are unique and need to be understood in your own context!

My name is Ineta Kokorisa and I am a Gestalt Integrative Therapist for adults and young people. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I abide by their code of ethics. I work with people from all different backgrounds and with a diverse range of problems. In therapy, I support growth and a fuller self-expression through body awareness, creative experimentation, and the use of mindfulness techniques.

Life throws many things at us which can knock us off our feet. Many of my clients have come to counselling feeling anxious, sad, frustrated, lonely, angry, depressed, feeling lost, experiencing relationship difficulties, or just really stuck and in each case, we have been able to work together to change those feelings. I have a particular interest in trauma and what therapists call chronic or toxic shame: an enduring sense of worthlessness, badness, or non-belonging that is the legacy of unresolved early wounds.

As a Gestalt-trained counsellor, I can help you to fulfill your potential, to explore yourself and fully embrace life. I am interested in you, your difficulties, and your life transitions. Life is a big adventure and you do not have to be alone in the journey. I provide a safe, non-judgmental, confidential, and supportive space for thoughts and feelings to unfold and be explored. I work collaboratively with whatever you bring to the sessions, as the therapy room is your space.

I will work with you towards greater self-understanding, self-acceptance, freedom to choose the way you want to live your life. You may come to feel some of your issues can be changed, some can be accepted, all can be understood. These are lifelong processes of discovery. The focus is on gaining awareness now so that we can take responsibility for the choices that we make for ourselves. As a result, we can live more fully in the present and find meaning in our inner and outer worlds.

Gestalt therapy is defined as a humanistic approach to psychotherapy which includes psychoanalysis, existentialism, and phenomenology. Gestalt Therapy focuses on the dialogic co-creation in the ‘here-and-now’, it is a way of exploring your here-and-now experience in the context of the issue you are bringing to the counselling session. It facilitates self-compassion, acceptance and the discovery of your authentic self.

Foundations of my practice:

  • Anger

I work in-person in Southeast, Southwest, West London, London Bridge, or online and offer 50-minute-long therapy - time-limited or open-ended sessions.   I encourage you to get in touch with me via email or the contact form to enquire about my current availability.

If you want to give it a try, I encourage you to get in touch with me via email or the contact form to enquire about my current availability, so as that I can answer any other questions you may have and then we can arrange the session. The first session will be a bit different to other sessions as this will be for us to meet and get to know each other, work through any questions you may have and also discuss your expectations for the counselling. During the session, I will also ask you for information on what has brought you to counselling and some other questions to help me to identify the most appropriate way for us to work together.

I know finding the right therapist can be daunting. That's why I offer a complimentary 15-minute chat where you can ask questions and most importantly, see if we click. Feeling at ease and supported in therapy is essential and this initial chat allows us to establish that foundation.

Testimonials:

“I was initially unsure about what kind of therapy to look for, and what would work for me and get me out of the chronic depression I had been suffering from for years. Ineta made everything clear and easy from the beginning and helped me shed light on my anxieties and insecurities, always urging me to be present in the moment and always embracing me with exceptional empathy. I feel I can be myself with her, and even more than that, that I am discovering myself anew with her. Thank you, Ineta, for everything! You have breathed life and hope into me.” (She / Her client)

“Ineta is likeable and easy to talk to. She has a positive attitude and is an empathetic and active listener. I would recommend her to friends and family.” (LGBQ+ member)

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
