About me

Perhaps you have never opened up to anyone before, and the thought of this might seem overwhelming.  It is easy to get stuck in old patterns of behaviour which can prevent you from realising your potential or moving your life forward.

Are you carrying baggage from your past or have fears for the future? You may be struggling to come to terms with the loss of a loved one, or perhaps you have self-destructive thoughts. You could have problems with addiction or depression or be locked in an abusive relationship or an unhappy marriage.  Are you exhausted and frustrated, after years of acting as a go-between for battling parents?

Maybe you are struggling to cope alone or find you are unable to handle the pressures of day-to-day living, particularly under the present uncertain circumstances of a global pandemic.

Whatever your issues, together we can find a better understanding of where they stem from and help you find a way forward. My aim as your therapist would be to work with you to discover the best version of yourself.

My background is in psychodynamic psychotherapy.  Every client’s needs are different, and I will tailor the process to suit you, whether it be short-term or long-term therapy that you are seeking. I feel the basis of all productive and successful therapy stems from the relationship between the client and therapist, and in the trust and mutual respect that is built between us.

I will be respectful of your views and beliefs whatever they might be, I am non-judgemental and empathetic. In our time together, we can examine anything you feel might be holding you back and explore ideas to help you elicit change, finding new techniques to equip you with a more valuable ‘life tool-box.’

Perhaps you feel people don’t see the real you, or you may find it difficult to access parts of yourself that have long since been suppressed, as life can be so emotionally challenging.

If you feel you would like to get in touch, our first contact would be a brief introductory conversation, to enable you to see if we were the right fit for each other. If you then chose to go ahead, a meeting would be arranged, for up to an hour and a half, where I would invite you to discuss anything that you wish to bring, and you can judge for yourself if you feel comfortable working with me, and if you wish to proceed with the therapy.

I will provide a safe, confidential environment, in which I hope you will feel free to speak openly. There would be no obligation for you to continue.

If you decide you would like to work with me, each session will be for a duration of 50 minutes.

I have worked with children, young adults and adults of all ages.

Most people find the first call is the hardest. If you would like to get in touch, please take that first step and e mail or contact me by phone on the above number, don't struggle alone.

Member BACP and FIP

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
