About me

My role as your therapist is to provide a safe and empathic environment where you feel confident to share difficult issues without fear of judgement. We will work together to find new perspectives by identifying and challenging old patterns and barriers in order to help forge change and move forward.

In my practice, I work with a variety of challenging issues such as anxiety, depression, self-harm, post-natal depression, addiction, trauma, and bereavement. These are complex issues that require sensitivity and understanding, which is why building a strong connection between therapist and client is crucial.  Making a commitment to counselling is a potentially life-changing decision which requires courage and trust.

“It is astonishing how elements that seem insoluble become soluble when someone listens, how confusions that seem irremediable turn into relatively clear flowing streams when one is heard”. Carl Rogers

My approach is rooted in Gestalt Therapy, which encourages a better understanding of how we relate to ourselves and others and the subsequent impact we carry both emotionally and physically. There is inevitably some looking back in order to understand how patterns became set and affect how we behave in the present. Understanding the past can bring understanding, growth and change. I will work with you to challenge unhelpful past behaviours and learn new ways of "being" in the world.

I have experience in working therapeutically with neurodiversity and have also developed a particular interest in the psychological impact of our school years which led me to pursue additional training on working with boarding school survivors.

I offer an initial free consultation by telephone to give you the opportunity to ask me any questions and decide if you would like us to work together. You can book an appointment directly through my profile page or send me an email.

I work with clients over 17 years of age.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
